"PRIDE OF NATION AWARD" TO ASSAM RIFLES
Lieutenant General, Shokin Chauhan, YSM, SM, VSM, DG Assam Rifles, accepted the award on behalf of the force from Mr. Tathagat Roy, Governor of Tripura and dedicated the award to all officers, JCOs and OR who continue to tirelessly serve the Nation.
Dr. Anthony Raju, Global Chairman of All India Council of Human Rights Liberties and Social Justice (AICHLS) was also present on this occassion.
Assam Rifles, the oldest para military force of India, with its diversified role of guarding the North Eastern borders, conducting counter-insurgency operations, helping the Civil Administration in maintaining peace and stability as well as in bringing succor to the people of North East, was awarded the ‘Pride of Nation Award 2016’ by the All India Council of Human Rights Liberties and Social Justice (AICHLS) on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, in recognition of the Force’s outstanding contribution to peace, harmony, protecting and promoting human rights at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles, Shillong. Assam Rifles is the first para military force to receive this prestigious award.
